K’s Red Plane

A few weeks ago my son started talking about how much he wanted an airplane to play with. He told me he was saving money for a plane. About that same time I ran across this. I told him the next day that we would try to make one.
We sat down at the table and he was bouncing and singing and telling me repeatedly how excited he was about us making a plane.  So we got to work….

Take a water bottle and cut off the top of the bottle. Seal it back with a lid.

Make wings and other plane parts from cardboard. I used a cheerios box

Tape all of the pieces onto the bottle. I also used lids to make the plane wheels.

After you have taped everything on and it looks like a plane, move on to paper mache. I used 1 part glue to 2 parts water and painted the newspapers onto the bottle. Then we waited for it to dry.
He loves Lightning McQueen so he asked me to paint the plane red, and paint him flying it! We are all in the other windows.  This was a fun project. He was overjoyed and has been playing with it for weeks now.
How do you like it?
